Marketing on a Budget: Achieving Real Results

Money leaves the business on marketing every month and nobody can say what came back. Meanwhile the competitor down the road has an agency, a budget and a marketing manager, and the game starts to look unwinnable. It is not, but winning it means deciding where a small budget goes instead of spreading it thin across everything that sounds current. This lecture is about allocation and evidence: what a customer is worth to you, what you can afford to spend to win one, and how to separate a working effort from an expensive habit.

The content is matched in advance to your audience and goals on a short fitting call.

What your audience takes away

  • Decide where a limited marketing budget goes before you spend it.
  • Work out what winning a new customer can afford to cost.
  • Name the efforts to stop, not only the ones to add.
  • Market the business without appearing on camera yourself.
  • Tell whether something worked without an analytics setup.

Who this lecture is for

Aimed at rooms of owners who market their own business themselves. Periphery employment and business centres in the Negev and the Galilee build owner evenings around exactly this problem, municipal business development departments and Maof advisory tracks cover the same need, and business communities, networking chapters and women's entrepreneurship programmes book it as a practical evening. Trade associations and franchise networks use it where every member markets locally on a small budget of their own.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really an Instagram session under another name?

No. Most small budget marketing content collapses into organic social and phone video, which serves one kind of business well and leaves the rest with nothing. The channel is a consequence of who your customer is, and that question comes first.

Our members sell to other businesses, or run local services. Their customers are not on social media.

Then social is a poor home for their budget, and saying so out loud is part of the point. A business whose customers arrive by referral, by search or by phone needs its money in other places, and the allocation logic works the same either way.

Does it require owners to appear on camera?

No, and that assumption kills marketing plans before they start. Plenty of owners will never film themselves, and a plan that depends on it is a plan they quietly abandon within a month.

Do you sell marketing services? We do not want a pitch for an agency.

Alex Slutsker is a business consultant, and no agency, platform or tool is sold from the stage. That neutrality is what makes it possible to say which efforts to stop, which no vendor will ever tell your members.

Most of our members have no tracking at all. How would they know whether anything worked?

By deciding in advance what counts as a result, which is almost always a conversation, an enquiry or a returning customer rather than a view. Businesses with no analytics can still count those, and counting them changes what they spend on next.

Part of the audience is experienced and part is new. Will it work?

Yes. The depth is set in advance on the fitting call, examples are matched to the sector, and the base assumes no prior knowledge. Audience questions give the experienced their room too.
