Yes, and that is the default rather than the exception. Before the session we run a short discovery call and review the team's current challenges, recent decisions, and the language they use internally. The workshop content is then adapted: examples replaced with industry-relevant cases, exercises framed around live problems the team faces, and pace adjusted to the group's seniority. A generic workshop fills time. A tailored one ends with the team applying the framework to a real situation they brought into the room. The aim is behaviour change after the session, not a feel-good rating during it.
Both, with practical exercises as the main load. Pure lectures rarely change behaviour. Pure exercises without framing leave participants energised but without a model they can reuse later. Sessions usually open with a short lecture block to align language and concepts, then move to small-group or individual exercises using the team's own data, decisions, or scenarios. We close with a structured debrief and a one-page takeaway that names the three things participants will do differently next week. The split between teaching and doing is calibrated to the topic, the audience, and how much time the group actually has.
The topics that consistently work cluster around three categories. First, money and decisions: financial intuition, pricing, profitability, and unit economics for non-finance audiences. Second, people and management: hiring, delegating, difficult conversations, and decision-making under conflicting priorities. Third, growth and resilience: validation, sales basics, marketing fundamentals, and dealing with uncertainty as a leader. The strongest sessions are framed around a real decision the audience is currently facing rather than a generic theme. Topic, depth, and format are decided together with the host before booking, not picked from a fixed catalogue.
