A lecture for organisations · 90 minutes · On site / Online
Growth Mindset for Entrepreneurial Success
The first rejection lands, and the person who was going to start something quietly stops. Not because the idea was wrong, but because they read the setback as a verdict on who they are. This lecture treats mindset as a set of decisions rather than a mood, the decision to approach a first customer, to name a price out loud, to keep going after a month that produced nothing. Alex Slutsker, a business consultant, works through where fixed thinking actually shows up in a founder's week and what a different reading of the same evidence makes possible.
The content is matched in advance to your audience and goals on a short fitting call.

What your audience takes away
- ▸Spot the moment a setback turns into a verdict about your ability.
- ▸Reframe a lost deal as evidence about the offer, not about you.
- ▸Approach a first customer without waiting to feel ready enough.
- ▸Name a price out loud and stay in the conversation afterwards.
- ▸Keep a stalled venture moving through a month with nothing to show.
Who this lecture is for
Built for learning and welfare leads booking a session for staff who are building something on the side, for municipal young adult centres and city entrepreneurship hubs, for academic entrepreneurship centres opening or closing a student cohort, and for accelerator and incubator managers who need an opening session that survives contact with the first setbacks. Youth programme coordinators and coworking hub managers book it for rooms that mix the curious with the already trading.

Frequently asked questions
Is this positive thinking with a different name?
No. The session is about decisions, not affirmations. It looks at what a person concludes after a rejection or a flat month, and at how that conclusion changes what they attempt next. Nothing in it asks anyone to feel optimistic.
Our audience is engineers and analysts who switch off during motivational content. Will this land with them?
It is built for exactly that room. The material stays on observable behaviour, the offer that got refused, the call that never got made, the price nobody said out loud, so a sceptical audience has something concrete to argue with rather than a slogan to sit through.
Does it work for a room mixing salaried employees with people already running something on the side?
Yes, and that mix helps. Employees weighing a first step hear from people slightly further along in the same room, and those already trading recognise their own early hesitation in the questions being asked.
What does a participant do differently in the week after?
Most often they make a contact they had been postponing, or they state a price they had been softening. The session closes with each person choosing that specific move for themselves rather than leaving with a general resolve to think bigger.
We ran a resilience session recently. Is this the same material?
No. Resilience content is about withstanding pressure. This is about what a person believes their ability actually is, and how that belief decides which opportunities they even attempt. The overlap is small and the two sit well in sequence.
Part of the audience is experienced and part is new. Will it work?
Yes. The depth is set in advance on the fitting call, examples are matched to the sector, and the base assumes no prior knowledge. Audience questions give the experienced their room too.
